| Thoughts on CNN Discrimination and Atheist Discrimination in General From: Ray Comments here were made on this blog written by TPO. Christians love to claim that all scientists are biased, but this tells us more about them than about us. It is well known that we human beings expect others to behave the way we do. The haphazard reporting methods of Christians have led many Atheists to suspect that some Christians ignore finding that do not support their fables. Your false blanket claim about science confirms our suspicions... Try walking in the shoes of an Atheist for a month. Or, better yet, just talk to an Atheist about discrimination. Don't make assumptions, just talk to one of us. Yes, sometimes the mean spirited attacks we so constantly face sometimes sting us into a mean spirited response. You have no clue as to the frequency and magnitude of the attacks against us. They are unceasing. When your preacher describes religious persecution, try imagining that it is real. Picture yourself part of a REAL MINORITY. In real life, I only know one other Atheist. Picture yourself REALLY BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST. Not just the occasional person who thinks that your religious ideas are odd, but a reality in which anyone who discovers your beliefs think that you are evil.Try to imagine EVERYONE YOU KNOW mocking your beliefs. Imagine your friends distancing themselves from you when they discover your beliefs. Picture employers distrusting you. Think about how it would make you feel if anyone who dissagreed with you just assumed that you were wrong because you were a Christian. How would you respond, if everyone always expected the worst of you, despite your exemplary behavior, because they KNOW that Christians are evil and immoral. If you can imagine this, then you know what it's like to be an open Atheist. In many parts of America, an Atheist must either hide his convictions or face this reality. It's no wonder that we sometimes get frustrated and lash out against our persecutors. The wonder is that we don't do it every day of our lives... Right. All we have to do is hide who we are, and pretend to be something we're not. Then we won't be discriminated against. Never mind that most Christians would never consider such a thing, and those who do are ashamed of it. Never mind that Christians are always encouraging each other to be more open about their beliefs and to 'share' their faith. We should be ashamed of our beliefs, while they should only be ashamed of hiding theirs. BULL SHIT! |
